Who We Are

Previously the South Flathead Sailing Association, the South Flathead Yacht Club was incorporated in 2013 as a Montana non profit. Since then the organization has maintained a presence in Dayton Bay and continues to provide some of the premier sailing events to be had on Flathead Lake. We are always ready to welcome new and active sailors and encourage you to reach out with any questions you may have. The SFYC holds reciprocal privileges with the North Flathead Yacht Club, of Somers, MT and the Canyon Ferry Yacht Club in Helena, MT. SFYC organizes and hosts the annual Wild Horse Island Race Weekend and a Labor Day Regatta. Weekend sailing is managed through our Keep It Simple Saturday (KISS) series with both distance and buoy racing. We are located on the grounds of the Dayton Yacht Harbor in Dayton, Montana on Flathead Lake.

The Goals of the SFYC are as follows:

  • Promote the sport of sailing

  • Promote sailing safety

  • Provide education opportunities to promote sailing skills

  • Promote cruising and sailboat racing

  • Promote and foster social activity and fellowship among members of the boating community and our region.
